BREAKING NEWS FROM NATIONAL:
Art and Nina Imperial
American Hemerocallis Society
2012 Region 6 Service Award Recipients

by Donna Peck

A Regional Director has many duties to perform. My very favorite job is to announce the Regional Service Award. I’m always happy to present this award to a very deserving member. This time I’m twice as happy, because I’m not only presenting one but two American Hemerocallis Society Region 6 Service Awards.

These two American Hemerocallis Society Region 6 members have been big contributors to our Region in many ways. They have held many offices over the years. Here are a few examples:

Everett Crainer, a Region 6 hybridizer, gives the Imperials appreciation and gratitude for being generous with their time and knowledge to help him begin his hybridizing program.

Many of us visited the Imperial's superb garden at the 2008 American Hemerocallis Society National Convention. We all saw how perfectly they grow their daylilies. Because Art is a scientist, a general surgeon to be exact, that might account for how beautifully manicured and organized the daylilies were.

After the Imperials visited my garden in 2011, which was on tour at our Regional, I received in the mail a well grown daylily hybridized by David Kirchhoff and named for this Art Imperial.

Congratulations, Art and Nina Imperial!
