Bridey
Greeson
Bridey Greeson was born
and raised in Victoria, Texas. Her passion for gardening began as a grade school
student, having grown unusual ferns and houseplants.
Bridey graduated from SMU in Dallas with a Bachelor of Business Management degree with a specialization in Finance. Besides her obsession with daylilies, she has served as President, Treasurer, and Fundraising Chair for the Methodist Day School, Victoria Regional Museum Association, Victoria Preservation Inc., and Finance and Development Chair for the Nazareth Academy. Her other hobbies are reading, traveling (especially to Florida in May), and spending time with her son, Parke, and husband, Milton. Many of Bridey's friends in the Region are not aware of the fact that she was ranked in the top ten in the world for non-professional cutting horse riders in 1987.
In 1992, I she bought Bill Munson’s book on daylilies at a Houston nursery and was amazed by the variety of color. Within months, her interest became an obsession as garden beds became larger, wider, and full of daylilies. While attending the Mid-Winter Symposium in Tennessee, she met Kay Day and David and Betty Burton at the airport. They encouraged her to become involved in Region 6.
Bridey was the Chair for the 1997 Region 6 mail-in auction and she became an American Hemerocallis Society Garden Judge the following year. She was Chair of the 1998 Region 6 Auction in Dallas and amassed a new record high amount raised for the Region. Bridey Chaired the Region 6 Auction for many years with great success. Her organization and management of this important fund raiser has ensured the financial health of Region 6.
Bridey was the Region 6 Youth Liaison 1998-99, served on the American Hemerocallis Society Financial Committee 2001-02, was Region 6 RVP 2002-05, was a member of the American Hemerocallis Society Awards and Honors Committee in 2003, Co-Chaired the Region 6 Meeting and Flower Show in San Antonio in 2004, was Region 6 Garden Judges Liaison in 2006, and was a member of the American Hemerocallis Society Special Voucher Committee in 2006.
