Region 6 continues to recognize those individuals who provide significant support to American Hemerocallis Society, the Region and their local community. Kathryn Neely, this year's recipient of the Region 6 Service Award certainly deserved this recognition.

Kathryn is one of the founding members of the Albuquerque Daylily Society and has served as President and Vice President.

She is a Master Gardener and performs soil tests for gardeners at the Albuquerque Garden Center.

She has supported the American Hemerocallis Society goals with her instrumental efforts in the planning of the Stout Medal, Lennington, and Peck Gardens at the University of New Mexico and the development of the daylily garden at the Los Ranchos de Las Golandrinas Living Museum near Santa Fe. She continually donates plants to St. Martins Homeless Shelter, Pueblo Indians Cultural Museum, and the Albuquerque Garden Center.

Currently, she is President of the Albuquerque Council of Garden Clubs comprised of 28 garden clubs and plant societies. Kathryn is an Exhibition Judge and Clinic Instructor.

She and her wonderful late husband, Harold, hosted the Region in their garden in 1995. Region 6 is truly blessed to have Kathryn and we thank her for all of her work.
