The American Hemerocallis Society Region 6 Service Award was presented to Joyce Lewis of Murchison, Texas. Judging by the standing ovation he received in Houston, it was a popular choice.

The Editor [Frances Gatlin] apologizes to Joyce for having no formal write-up of his accomplishments at this time. Some of his Regional service has been recognized outside Region 6, i.e., his Newsletter which won the National Award. His hybridizing features dormant stock that I can grow. But it is the gentle self-effacing humor he injects into all areas of service that makes us love him. That explains the standing ovation, I think.
