FORT WORTH, TEXAS CLUB NEWS
Mrs. J. B. Clark, president of The Happy Hour Daylily Club, of Fort Worth, Texas, says, "The Club is really getting along nicely now, and we have seven new members for the society. Not many, but it helps, I hope." This is certainly deserving of a "pat on the back" for an excellent job, well done. We wish that everyone in the society would emulate the example set by Mrs. Clark.

LONE STAR SPARK PLUG
Here is one way for Regional Directors to foster and promote good fellowship with hementhusiasts. Mrs. J. B. Clark, Route 12, Box 23, Fort Worth, Texas, president of her local group writes as follows:
"Thank you, Mr. Goss, [Norman P. Goss was American Hemerocallis Society President, 1949-1950] for your help in getting our club organized. The Hemerocallis minded folks of this city got together and formed a club. By organizing a club we hope to promote interest in hemerocallis, growing newer and better hems, evaluating and giving credit to those we consider worthy.
"Our aim is to arouse interest and to encourage more people to grow and enjoy hems. There are a number of enthusiasts in this area with large and fine named collections. The interest in hybridizing is a pleasing pastime, and some nice clones have shown up. Just one more reason why we needed a club.
"Slides from one of our outstanding hybridizers were shown and enjoyed. We plan to have more programs of this kind in the future. Several members are building good slide collections that will be available for exhibition.
"To help promote membership in the Hemerocallis Society, a hem of a dollar value was offered to each new member joining through the club. We are looking forward to a great year here in Fort Worth, with a new club and the delightful prospects of garden visits to see the new hybrids blooming for the first time. At this time of year, spring seems so far away, and I am such an impatient person. How can I possibly wait?"
