The North Texas Daylily Society was started July 21, 1988, in Fort Worth, with 13 charter members. Ray John was elected as the first President of the club. Charter members of the club include the following: Sharon Bartlett, Jim Cowart, Wanda Dow, Gene Holt, Shirlene Holt, Kirksey Hughes, Tom Hughes, Ray John, Dottie Morris, Sam Morris, Patsy Rosen, Keith Smith, and Tom Welches.

Over the last several years the club has had difficulties staying active due in part to members not being able or being unwilling to take on leadership roles, placing an ever-increasing burden on those who do. An aging membership coupled with decreasing recruitment of new members are also factors. Faced with these challenges, the North Texas Daylily Society found it necessary to either disband or merge with another organization. The Fort Worth Iris Society was experiencing similar issues, and determined it was mutually beneficial to merge the two clubs into the new Fort Worth Iris & Daylily Society. This strategic move was successfully executed in January 2025.

Officers of the new club are:

President: Happy Carver
Vice President Programs: Nancy Neubyer
Vice President Publicity : Stephanie Myers
Secretary: Kat Phillips
Treasurer: Danny Myers

Our meetings are on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. and are held at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., Fort Worth, TX.
