Albert Clyde Faggard was born December 14, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas, the son of Clyde Markham Faggard & Lucienna Bonne (Dieon) Faggard. Lucienna was born in France.

Albert was a graduate of Lamar College and the University of Texas. He retired after working 39 years for Gulf States Utility Company, Beaumont, Texas. Albert Faggard and Anne Theresa Brady were married in 1950 and have 5 boys and 3 girls.

Albert is better known by his nickname, "Bobo." For many years he dressed as a clown and entertained children.

Bobo, a breeder of Louisiana Irises, was active in the Society for Louisiana Irises. He has registered several Irises, some of which have won top awards. His garden is a beautiful sight in the Spring.

Bobo has grown daylilies since 1954, and joined American Hemerocallis Society in 1973. His interest in plant breeding led him to become an avid daylily breeder in 1976 and manager of the Brown Daylily Gardens at Orange, Texas, for Edgar W. and Betty Brown. Around 1980, as stock permitted Bobo began introducing their daylilies. Bobo has also registered 88 of his own daylily creations.

Bobo was active for many years as both an American Hemerocallis Society Garden Judge and Senior Exhibition Judge, and is now listed as Honorary Judge in both categories. He was also a Horticultural Judge. Bobo is a longtime member of the Beaumont Men's Garden Club. He has presented numerous programs, helped to organize new daylily clubs, and has written numerous articles for the Region 6 newsletter.

One of Bobo's major interests is the Garden Center in Beaumont, Texas, where he has made many donations of daylilies.

He was a major force in building the Region 6 Treasury with his efforts as Auctioneer at Regional Meetings. He also served as Auctioneer in several American Hemerocallis Society National Convention daylily auctions, keeping the auction moving and interesting.

Bobo was Chairman of a number of the Gulf Coast Daylily Society flower shows and plant sales, all of which were highly successful. His efforts contributed to the Gulf Coast treasury, allowing the club to provide free bus trips for club members visiting American Hemerocallis Society Conventions, Regional Meetings, and gardens all over the country. No one has ever been on a tour bus with Bobo Faggard and been bored, as he is a natural comedian.

Bobo served Region 6 as 1984-85 Regional Publicity Director.

In 1992, Albert C. Faggard was honored as recipient of the American Hemerocallis Society Region 6 Service Award for his many years of service and contributions to Region 6.
