Daylily Growers of Dallas
 Established September 25, 1958 as the Hemerocallis Growers of Dallas,
later renamed Daylily Growers of Dallas
This club also had day (Big Dee Unit) and night (Fluorescent Unit) groups for many years.

Mrs. Hugh A. (Lula Mae) Purnell was elected President at the organizational meeting of the club at her home in Dallas, Texas. Other officers were E. M. Thompson and Mrs. Lillian Allen, vice-presidents; Mmes. J. W. Hofman and E. W. Wilson, secretaries; Mrs. Robert Mitchell, treasurer; Mrs. Blish Brelaud, librarian; Mrs. Fred B. Shelton, parliamentarian; Mrs. E. C. Chenault, publicity; Miss Stella Chapman, telephone; Mrs. J. D. Shipman, house; Mrs. George W. Hopkins, yearbook; Mrs. E. E. Bone, pilgrimage; and Mrs. Robert Cheek, plant exchange. Regular meetings were held in October, January, April and June with pilgrimages during the blooming season. The club has been very active in American Hemerocallis Society and Region 6 activities through the years, having held American Hemerocallis Society National Conventions in 1965 & 1977, and American Hemerocallis Society Region 6 Meetings in 1970, 1975, 1979, 1982, 1989, 1998, 2005, 2014, & 2017. Daylily Growers of Dallas has produced two American Hemerocallis Society Presidents: Bertie Ferris (1969) and Kay Day (2000-2001).

Daylily Growers of Dallas (DGD) hosted a celebration of its 50th Anniversary on September 20, 2008. Everyone attending the celebration received a bound copy of the DGD 50-Year History Booklet. In honor of the occasion, all DGD members present were given a new daylily named Hemerocallis 'Dallas Legacy' (Dan Hansen, 2008). DGD commissioned Dan to name and register this new daylily cultivar in honor of the club's history.
