Betty
Lee (Davis) Anderson, 69, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away after an
extended illness on April 16, 2009. Betty was born on February 1, 1940, the
daughter of Delbert Grady Davis and Jessie Lee (Connell) Davis in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
She attended Sweeny High School and later attended Sam Houston State University.
On February 14, 1986, Betty married Neil Edward Anderson in West Columbia, Texas.
She was a life member of the American Hemerocallis Society and served as 1976-77 Region 6 RVP/Editor.
In 1972, Texas hybridizer J. E. Rupe named one of his daylily registrations Hemerocallis 'Betty Davis' in her honor for her “beautiful brown eyes.”
Betty enjoyed genealogy and researching her history.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jimmy Lawrence Davis; and grandson, Matthew Anderson.
