Betty
Acrey was born January 19, 1904, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Oliver
Cromwell McClanahan and Caroline Jane (Wood) McClanahan. Betty and her husband Fred

Betty was very active in Region 6 and the Hemerocallis Growers of Dallas. She served as 1976-77 Treasurer for the Dallas club. She served as Registrar for the Region 6 Meetings hosted by Dallas in 1975 and 1982. She also served as Registrar for the 1977 American Hemerocallis Society National Convention held in Dallas.
I remember Betty at the 1989 Region 6 Meeting in Dallas. I was standing near her in the hotel lobby, when all of a sudden, Betty fell straight backwards onto the tile floor, apparently having lost her balance. Several of us got her up onto her feet after determining that she was not hurt. Amazingly, Betty was talking to us like nothing had happened. She was one tough little 85 year old woman.
Betty died May 24, 1996, in Dallas at the age of 92.
